- Vesilaitoksen nimi oli alkujaan Helsingin kaupungin vesijohtolaitos. Nimi lyhennettiin 1950-luvulla muotoon Helsingin kaupungin vesilaitos. Sen jälkeen kun viemärit vuonna 1984 siirrettiin rakennusvirastolta Vesilaitoksen alaisuuteen, nimenä oli jonkin aikaa Helsingin kaupungin vesi- ja viemärilaitos, mutta aikaisempi nimi palautettiin muutamaa vuotta myöhemmin. Viimeinen nimi Helsingin Vesi otettiin käyttöön 1990-luvulla
