- Lokakuussa 1939 Erillisen Lentolaivueen lentävästä osasta muodostettiin Lentolaivue 36. LLv 36 oli aluksi sijoitettu Helsingin Vuosaareen (Kallvik), mutta siirrettiin 12.12.1939 Helsinki-Malmille. Maaliskuussa 1940 ilmavoimien uudelleenjärjestelyssä laivueen nimeksi tuli Lentolaivue 6. ja myöhemmin taas Erilliseksi Lentolaivueeksi kunnes se muutettiin 31.5.1941 uudelleen Lentolaivue 6:ksi.
