Scope note
- Differentiated trophoblast cells originally from trophoblastic cell columns of anchoring CHORIONIC VILLI of the DECIDUA basalis of the PLACENTA. Extravillous trophoblasts invade into the uterine structures, attaching the placenta to the UTERUS. They are also found in chorionic plate, MYOMETRIUM, and spiral arteries.
