Användningsanmärkning
- Enzymsystem med en enda underenhet och som endast kräver magnesium för endonukleolytisk verkan. Motsvarande modifieringsmetylaser är separate enzymer. Systemen känner igen specifika, korta DNA-sekvenser och klyver inom, eller på ett kort, specifikt avstånd från, den igenkända sekvensen, vilket ger specifika, dubbelsträngade fragment med 5'-fosfatändar. Enzymer från olika mikroorganismer med samma specificitet kallas isoschizomerer. EC 3.1.21.4.
