- En art av Lentivirus, undersläktet kattlentivirus, som isolerats från katter med "chronic wasting syndrome", en förmodad immundefekt. Det finns tre stammar: Petaluma- (FIP-P), Oma- (FIP-O) och Pumalentivirus (PLV). Det finns inget antigent släktskap mellan FIV och HIV, och FIV förökar sig inte i humana T-celler.
