Definition

  • intellectual property right that concerns the presentation of or financial investment connection to an intellectual work that does not result in a copyrightable work but whose protection is defined separately in connection with copyright legislation

Note

  • Neighbouring rights are used to protect e.g. databases, lists, performances by performing artists, works by recording and visual recording producers as well as the rights of public broadcasting corporations to their broadcasting signals. A neighbouring right can be created for a private person or organisation.
