Huomautus

  • "Student engagement is generally recognized as a multifaceted concept (Appleton et al., 2006; Fredricks et al., 2004; Wang et al., 2019). According to the most common taxonomy, it comprises three primary dimensions: cognitive, affective (i.e., emotional), and behavioral engagement (Fredricks et al., 2004; Jimerson et al., 2003). Affective engagement reflects students’ emotional responses to learning and education, such as feelings of interest, joy, or anxiety, as well as their attitudes toward education and sense of connection with their school (Appleton et al., 2006; Fredricks et al., 2004). Cognitive engagement involves students’ dedication to learning, including their effort to integrate previous knowledge with new information, their use of cognitive and learning strategies, and seeing education as meaningful for their future, also encompassing self-regulation and setting educational goals (Fredricks et al., 2004; Greene, 2015). Behavioral engagement pertains to students’ participation in academic activities and includes their effort, persistence, attention, and contributions to classroom activities (Cooper, 2014; Fredricks et al., 2004)." lähde: Söderholm, Fiia, 2025 : Supporting students in general upper secondary education : |b longitudinal perspectives of school burnout and engagement. isbn: 978-952-61-5613-2
